Maylath’s Farm Event: Middle School

Our Middle School (grades 5-8) students spent the day at Maylath’s Farm in Sugarloaf on Saturday, October 26, 2019. We had a great time hanging out, doing the corn maze, hay rides, picking out pumpkins and staking on top of each other on the big slide! Thank you to the leaders who gave up their Saturday to hang out with these students!

State of the 4:12 Address

This video serves as the state of the Shiloh 4:12 Student Ministries. We had a crazy fun-packed summer so far. And it ain’t over yet! God has been working in students lives and those we’re serving. Enjoy this video and continue to pray for Shiloh 4:12!

Changes to Shiloh 4:12 Social Media

We have decided it is time to make a change in our social media strategy. In the past, we have posted pictures on Facebook and Instagram as a closed group or private setting so that only our members could see the posts. However, we’re learning that one of the first steps that someone may take before coming as a student or allowing their child to come is to check out our social media posts to see what we’re about. Our current social media strategy doesn’t allow for someone to “check us out” on social media before walking through the doors of the YAC.

So, with that being said, for the past few years, you have been under the impression that photos taken at events would only be posted in a “private” group. We plan to remove any photos of students that have been posted prior to May 1, 2018 before we make our social media pages public. So, basically, we are keeping photos of students that have been posted in the past year.  And, in the future, we may use photos from events and regular 4:12 meetings on our social media pages.

If you desire to NOT have your child’s photo on our social media and/or website, please let me know ASAP.

In Christ!

Happy 4:12 Day!

Today is April 12th (4/12). It’s also 4:12 Day!

You might be saying, “what’s 4:12 Day?”

Glad you asked!

At Shiloh 4:12 Student Ministries, we took four different verses from four different books of the Bible, all found in the 4th chapter and 12th verse. Those verses are:

Colossians 4:12 – …always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured.

Hebrews 4:12 – For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Acts 4:12 – Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.

1 Timothy 4:12 – Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

So, we value prayer, the Bible, Salvation and our testimony.

We also have a ton of fun together!

If you’d like to join us, we meet Sunday nights at 6:00 PM at Shiloh Bible Church, 123 Church St, Bloomsburg. We also meet for Sunday School at 9:40 AM.

Thanks for checking us out and have a happy 4:12 Day!

CREATION 2018 Recap

The Shiloh 4:12 Student ministries would like to thank everyone who donated food, drinks, paper supplies, gift cards, scholarship funds and prayer! There were so many successful stories that came from the Creation week—spiritual decisions, great culturally relevant conversations and relationship building. Be sure to ask a teen about their Creation experience!

The “Next Generation” of the Church is Now

Too often, we see and hear ourselves talking about the “next generation” of the Church. Sometimes we’re talking about Millennials; sometimes we’re talking about Gen Z. Either way, the statement implies that the younger generations aren’t really part of the church yet. I’m here to tell you that the younger generations ARE part of the church NOW. Their involvement in ministry and leadership is not something that needs to wait. Serving and being active in our faith is part of the discipleship process. Is there a better way to show younger generations about faith than to have them play active roles within the church community?

One of our pillar Shiloh 4:12 verses, 1 Timothy 4:12, encourages younger believers to not allow age to be a deterrent to ministry. In 2 Timothy 2:2, the Apostle Paul encourages his younger brother, Timothy, to take what he has learned and pass them along to other younger believers who will turn around and share them with more younger believers. The clear model is that we should be making disciples that make disciples.

During the summer months, Shiloh 4:12’s student ministry is providing opportunities for students to be discipled in many ministry opportunities. During our regular meetings, we have invited three different ministries to come and share about themselves. Then, instead of having a regular youth meeting the following Sunday night, we are going and joining the individuals (or teams) in their ministry setting. The three opportunities are the Buckhorn Truck stop, visiting nursing home residents and shut-ins with a therapy dog, and horseback trick riding.

“Older generations” have the life experiences and wisdom to share with the younger generations, and the younger generations have never been more eager to learn! Age should not determine the involvement in the Church. The Church has the opportunity to embrace the “next generation” by allowing them to have age-appropriate responsibility and involvement. It’s up to us to provide the opportunities and encourage younger believers to take ownership of their discipleship processes. We should provide ministry, leadership, and faith-building opportunities for younger generations.

All Access Series – Starting March 19, 2017

Have you ever been to a concert? Maybe you had tickets for great seats. Maybe you were in the nosebleeds. Either way, you probably noticed that everyone had the same goal in mind, to get as close as possible. There’s just something about being near the band or near the artist that makes a great concert even more fun. But there’s a limit, right? No matter how good your tickets are, you can only get so close. There’s a velvet rope you can’t cross, a hall you can’t walk down, or a security guard you can’t stroll right past because those areas are reserved for certain people…special people—people with an all-access pass. Maybe you’ve felt the same way when it comes to God. Sure, you come to church and sing songs or listen, but there’s a limit to how close you can get. It’s almost like there’s a velvet rope around certain parts of our faith that tells us those parts are restricted to special people, to church-staff people, or to super-spiritual people.

But what if that’s never what God intended? In this series we’ll explore what the Resurrection of Jesus really meant—for real people like us. And, we’ll discover that, because of Easter, we have an all-access pass to Him and to the life He has for us.

New Series: Road Trip

Road trips are awesome. Whether you’re heading to the mountains with your family or driving to the beach with your friends, the idea of packing up, grabbing your favorite snacks, planning the perfect playlist, and hitting the road just sounds like an adventure. And it is!Maybe that’s because new places are always exciting, or maybe it’s just that, more than anywhere else, the unexpected seems to happen on the road. Flat tires. Detours. Surprisingly great lunch stops. Disappointingly awful gas stations. The unexpected is just part of the trip. Life works a lot like that, too. We start with a plan in mind, but things happen along the way that change our plans, change our minds, or even change our relationships. That’s when we have to decide to stick to the plan or change course. This was especially true for the apostle Paul. Long before GPS or interstates, Paul set out on a series of road trips, and just like us, he experienced some surprising, even life-changing moments on the road. As we take a look at some key turning points on Paul’s road trips, we discover that maybe the best thing that can happen on our journey is a change of direction.

WE’RE TEACHING THIS

“Are you in?” It’s a question we all answer over and over again. When there’s a party, when our coach says it’s time for tryouts, when we’re offered a summer job, when our friends go to the movies, or when someone invites us to church, we all have the chance to decide if we’re “in” or “out” for that particular activity. Sometimes the answer is an easy, “Count me in!” Other times it’s tougher. There are good reasons on both sides. Some of Jesus’ friends were faced with the same decision of whether they were “in” or “out.” They had good reasons to join the Jesus movement, but they also had some pretty compelling reasons to step out—things like doubt, guilt, pride, and the fear of what they might miss. As we get to know these sometimes famous and devoted followers, we’ll talk about the decision they faced, why they could have walked away, and what led them to say, “I’m in.”

Long before GPS or interstates, Paul set out on a series of road trips, and just like us, he experienced some surprising, even life-changing moments on the road. As we take a look at some key turning points on Paul’s road trips, we discover that maybe the best thing that can happen on our journey is a change of direction.

I’m In

I’m In

Let’s Have a 4:12 C.H.A.T.

ColossiansHebrewsActsTimothy
